The Lincoln County War

The Lincoln County War erupted in 1878 and pitted two powerful groups against each other: the Murphy-Dolan faction, led by wealthy ranchers Lawrence Murphy and James Dolan, and the Tunstall-McSween faction, led by English businessman John Tunstall and Irish immigrant Alexander McSween. Billy the Kid aligned himself with the Tunstall-McSween faction and quickly became one of their most feared fighters.
