Carolyn Jessop was born into the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS),a polygamous sect that practices arranged marriages and shuns modern technology. From a young age, she was taught that the FLDS was the only true church and that the outside world was evil. She was also taught that women were subservient to men and that her purpose in life was to marry and have as many children as possible.

At the age of 18, Carolyn was forced to marry her first husband, a man who was more than twice her age. She was later married to two more men, and she eventually had eight children. She endured years of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her husbands and other members of the FLDS. She was also constantly monitored and controlled, and she lived in constant fear of being excommunicated.

In 2003, Carolyn finally made the decision to escape the FLDS. She left her children behind, knowing that she would never see them again. She traveled across the country, hiding from the FLDS and trying to start a new life. She eventually found help from a group of former FLDS members who helped her to get on her feet and to reconnect with her children.

Carolyn's story is a harrowing account of the devastating effects of religious extremism. It is a story of abuse, control, and fear. But it is also a story of hope and resilience. Carolyn's escape from the FLDS was a triumph of the human spirit, and her story is an inspiration to anyone who has ever suffered from religious persecution.
