Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, an iconic figure of American history and fashion, led a life that was as captivating as it was tragic. Early Life and Education

Jacqueline Lee Bouvier was born on July 28, 1929, in Southampton, New York. Her father, John Vernou Bouvier III, was a wealthy stockbroker, and her mother, Janet Lee Bouvier, was a socialite. Jacqueline had two younger sisters, Lee and Janet.

Jacqueline attended the Chapin School in New York City and then Miss Porter's School in Connecticut. She was a bright and talented student, and she excelled in her studies. She also developed a love of the arts and culture at a young age.

Marriage to John F. Kennedy

In 1951, Jacqueline met John F. Kennedy, a young congressman from Massachusetts. They were married on September 12, 1953, in a lavish ceremony at St. Mary's Church in Newport, Rhode Island. The wedding was attended by over 1,200 guests, including many of the most powerful people in the world.

The Kennedys had three children: Caroline, John Jr., and Patrick. Patrick died shortly after his birth in 1963.

First Lady of the United States

In 1960, John F. Kennedy was elected President of the United States. Jacqueline Kennedy became the First Lady at the age of 31. She was the youngest First Lady in American history, and she quickly became a beloved figure.

Jacqueline Kennedy was known for her grace, style, and intelligence. She was a tireless advocate for the arts and culture, and she helped to make the White House a center of cultural activity. She also worked to promote American fashion and design.

Assassination of John F. Kennedy

On November 22, 1963, President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Jacqueline Kennedy was riding in the car with her husband when he was shot. She was covered in his blood, and she witnessed his death.
