Beebe attended Columbia University, where he studied biology. He graduated in 1898, and he then went on to earn a Ph.D. from the University of Leipzig. After completing his education, Beebe began working as a curator at the New York Zoological Society.

Exploration and Discovery

In 1909, Beebe embarked on his first major expedition to the Galapagos Islands. He spent several months studying the wildlife of the islands, and he collected a large number of specimens. Beebe's expedition was a success, and it helped to establish him as a leading authority on marine biology.

In 1914, Beebe joined the American Museum of Natural History as a curator of ornithology. He continued to lead expeditions to various parts of the world, including the Caribbean Sea, the Pacific Ocean, and the Arctic. Beebe was one of the first people to use a bathysphere to explore the ocean's depths. He made several dives in the bathysphere, and he discovered a number of new species of marine life.

His writing was clear and engaging, and he was able to convey the excitement of his discoveries to a wide audience.
